THE WORKER'S RULING PASSION

Wherefore we labour that . . we may be accepted of Him.

     2 Corinthians 5:9

"Wherefore we labour...." It is arduous work to keep the master amibition in front. It means holding one's self to the high ideal year in and year out, not being ambitious to win souls or to establish churches or to have revivals, but being ambitious only to be "accepted of Him." It is not lack of spiritual experience that leads to failure, but lack of labouring to keep the ideal right. Once a week at least take stock before God and see whether you are keeping your life up to the standard He wishes. Paul is like a musician who does not heed the approval of the audience if he can catch the look of approval from his Master.

Any ambition which is in the tiniest degree away from this central one of being "approved unto God" may end in our being castaways.

Learn to discern where the ambition leads, and you will see why it is so necessary to live facing the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul says - "Lest my body should make me take another line, I am constantly watching so that I may bring it into subjection and keep it under." (1 Cor. 9:27.)

I have to learn to relate everything to the master ambition, and to maintain it without any cessation. My worth to God in public is what I am in private. Is my master ambition to please Him and be acceptable to Him, or is it something less, no matter how noble?

Stay by the Shore of the River

Ezekiel 47:1-12

The River From the Temple

1 The man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was flowing from the south side.

3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits [a] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. 6 He asked me, "Son of man, do you see this?"

Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. 8 He said to me, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, [b] where it enters the Sea. [c] When it empties into the Sea, [d] the water there becomes fresh. 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. 10 Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Great Sea. [e] 11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

God reminded me of this last night during caregroup...Actually, this has been something that has been like episode 1, episode 2 and now episode 3 from God.

Episode 1 was: I saw an image of a clay in God's hands...it was very soft and was very mouldable. But another clay that has been left for too long and was dry and hardened, was very hard to shape. In fact, impossible to shape. No matter how much water we try to apply onto the hardened clay, it remains hard because it is formed in its ways and can't go back. Beware if we allow our hearts to be hardened for too long...it will come a time when God may come in and want to shape you but it is difficult because it's been hardened for so long. So, remain soft before God. Remain in God who is the water of life...then the clay will remain soft and mouldable...always.

Episode 2: Last night, during worship, i saw a similar image...I saw the clear difference between soil that was next to the river and soil that was in the dessert. Clay is usually found in the riverbanks because they are soil that is constantly wet and so very very soft. But as you journey away from the river into land...where the dessert is, the soil is sand and the moment you pick it up, it crumbles in your hand. It is unformable and unmouldable. Whereas the soil on the riverbanks were soft, mouldable and RICH.

Episode 3: Reading this passage in Ezekiel 47...

Moments like this...you can't help but prick up your ears and listen...I realised in the last few years, I have  slowly lost  forgotten to how to abandon my life unto God...to FULLY rely on him. Lay my life down for Him and pray daily..."God, i place my life in your hands.." I might have said it, but i don't think I have prayed it from the depth of my heart. It's different when we say it and mean it. The joy that flows out...the peace from God. Some may say that is strange. But don't we lose our freedom when we COMMIT our lives wholly unto God. On the contrary, there is a complete freedom because you know that you are truly doing what you should be...and it's not a forced conviction...it's a conviction that comes out of the complete surrender to God. And then the joy in EVERYDAY life and every moment we go through is just a complete joy even when it gets difficult...even when bad things happen...even when we face challenges.

It boils down to one question..."Have we surrendered our lives to God?"

When God becomes the utter need of our life...the very source of our plans and decisions, we value every moment with Him so preciously that we want more time with Him...more "moments" with Him...more words of wisdom/knowledge from Him...more "presence" from Him...more annointing from Him...more of Him.

We would never dry up and the process to be filled and refreshed by God is a constant in our life.

When we are constantly filled by God, refreshed in God and have a genuinely soft heart before God, it's so easy for God to mould us and direct us. Obedience is not an issue...it's automatic and natural because we utterly TRUST in the direction God shows us and the things He leads us into. And NATURALLY, we will want what He wants and we will do what He wants us to do because we know our Father knows best. His commands, His yoke is not burdensome but light (Matthew 11:29-30) and easy.

What is a "yoke"? See Biblegateway search results. A "yoke" is the bar that is strapped onto an ox around the neck so that the ox can pull the thing that plows the land and prepares the ground for planting of seed and growing of crops. It is used in different context within the bible. Often, it is used to describe being enslaved by something...but it is also used to describe the "bonding relationship we have with God...the covenantal yoke." This yoke that talks of our bond with God is to come under the lordship and commands of God...Jeremiah 2, Jeremiah 5, Lam 3:27...it refers to that covenanting partnership with God. So, are we yoked with God or are we yoked with the world?

It's one of those hard to learn lessons that is nonetheless important for us to learn in  our walk with God in life. I don't profess to understand it yet but i am taking my first step. Lord, I want to be yoked with you. I lay down my life once again at your feet. Direct me...I want to learn to COMPLETELY and utterly trust you. Help me to re-learn this important lesson in life, that I may know the fruit of peace and joy that comes with the complete surrender of my life to you, Lord.

Into the Deep

"Launch out into the deep" (Luke 5:4).

 

How deep He does not say. The depth into which we launch will depend upon how perfectly we have given up the shore, and the greatness of our need, and the apprehension of our possibilities. The fish were to be found in the deep, not in the shallow water.

So with us; our needs are to be met in the deep things of God. We are to launch out into the deep of God's Word, which the Spirit can open up to us in such crystal fathomless meaning that the same words we have accepted in times past will have an ocean meaning in them, which renders their first meaning to us very shallow.

Into the deep of the Atonement, until Christ's precious blood is so illuminated by the Spirit that it becomes an omnipotent balm, and food and medicine for the soul and body.

Into the deep of the Father's will, until we apprehend it in its infinite minuteness and goodness, and its far-sweeping provision and care for us.

Into the deep of the Holy Spirit, until He becomes a bright, dazzling, sweet, fathomless summer sea, in which we bathe and bask and breathe, and lose ourselves and our sorrows in the calmness and peace of His everlasting presence.

Into the deep of the Holy Spirit, until He becomes a bright, marvelous answer to prayer, the most careful and tender guidance, the most thoughtful anticipation of our needs, the most accurate and supernatural shaping of our events.

Into the deep of God's purposes and coming kingdom, until the Lord's coming and His millennial reign are opened up to us; and beyond these the bright entrancing ages on ages unfold themselves, until the mental eye is dazed with light, and the heart flutters with inexpressible anticipations of its joy with Jesus and the glory to be revealed.

Into all these things, Jesus bids us launch. He made us and He made the deep, and to its fathomless depths He has fitted our longings and capabilities. --Soul Food

"Its streams the whole creation reach,
So plenteous is the store;
Enough for all, enough for each;
Enough forevermore."

The deep waters of the Holy Spirit are always accessible, because they are always proceeding. Will you not this day claim afresh to be immersed and drenched in these waters of life? The waters in Ezekiel's vision first of all oozed from under the doors of the temple. Then the man with the measuring line measured and found the waters to the ankles. Still further measurement, and they were waters to the knees. Once again they were measured and the waters were to the loins. Then they became waters to swim in--a river that could not be passed over. (Read Ezekiel 47). How far have we advanced into this river of life? The Holy Spirit would have a complete self
effacement. Not merely ankle-deep, knee-deep, loin-deep, but self-deep.

We ourselves hidden out of sight and bathed in this life-giving stream. Let go the shore-lines and launch out into the deep. Never forget, the Man with the measuring line is with us today. --J.G.M.

Do You Love Me More Than These?

The scenario: Peter has indeed denied Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed. And ashamed of himself, he had ran back to his hometown and old job of fishing. After Jesus resurrected, one of the things He did in the 40 days before He went back to heaven was to give Peter a visit and to bring him back to the plan He had for Peter…This is a pivotal moment in the bible as it shows so many things about a Christian’s walk and the love of Jesus for us even in our seeming failures.

Firstly, Jesus didn’t tell Peter that he would deny Him 3 times before the rooster crowed to put Peter on the spot. Rather, I think Jesus wanted to show Peter that He knew all things – including Peter’s future. It wasn’t so that Peter would be “embarrassed” but so that Peter would be “humbled” into learning to rely on Jesus and not his own wisdom. Peter had always felt he knew everything and could achieve everything and he was not afraid to show it – including walk on water. But often, he did these things not in reliance of Jesus but in reliance of his own abilities and self-confidence.

After Peter denied Jesus 3 times, he was so shattered at his own inability to stand firm in his faith in Jesus that he decided to retreat to the old life…He was no longer Peter who could do no wrong by Jesus but he was Peter who denied Jesus 3 times. Nobody knew this but Peter did. Peter couldn’t face up to himself. Peter always felt he could face up to the persecution because he answered Jesus swiftly that he would die for Jesus in such a situation…John 22 verse 33 - ”But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” However, when the rubber hit the road, Peter’s reflex shocked himself.

What Peter didn’t realize was this was the final examination for Peter before graduation into the position of the leader of the church…Satan has asked to sift him. However, Jesus was confident that Peter would stand the test of faith…Verse 31 – Jesus said, ”Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Jesus was certain that Peter would turn back as He said “when you have turned back”. And not only would Peter turn back but he would strengthen his brothers. Of course, these words made no sense to Peter at this point. He must be thinking to himself…I would never turn my back against Jesus. No way.

But as the evening’s events rolled on, Peter would come face to face with the crow of the rooster after he has denied he had anything to do with Jesus… 

What does “these” mean?

Which brings us to the theme of my entry…Now, Jesus had come back to life and Peter MUST have heard about it cause it would have been the talk of the town. EVERYONE in Jerusalem and beyond must have heard about the great Prophet who claimed to be God who had come back to life. But why did Peter not go and look for Jesus? Perhaps he was too ashamed to face Jesus. Perhaps, in defeat, he had “given up” everything and wanted to “just go back to life as it was before he met Jesus”. But everyone who has ever been with Jesus will know…you CAN’T go back. When you have tasted the goodness of God, you can’t possibly go back to old times and pretend that you do not miss Jesus. Whatever could have gone on in Peter’s mind, he certainly did not go in search of Jesus. He just went on with life as though nothing had changed.

…Restoration is at hand…Peter was fishing and did not catch anything (John 21). Then, up come a man who instructed him to fish in a certain spot on the right side of the boat. Déjà vu. But Peter keeps quiet and he does as the man instructed…and as had happened before in Matthew 4. John was the first one to recognize Jesus and exclaimed, “It is the Lord!” Upon the realization, Peter reacted almost as if his heart beat a leap of joy and he jumped into the water in haste to get to Jesus. But no one said anything…it was just a moment of awe and amazement. Here was Jesus – alive and sitting on the shore with them. They were too in awe to even wonder where did the burning coal and fish that Jesus prepared came from…They just ate and savoured the moment. And I am sure they must have ate and just stared at Jesus. As for me, if I was one of them…I probably would have cried buckets as I sat there and looked at Jesus.

Then Jesus spoke…directly to Simon Peter (I have always imagined that it was one on one with Peter but reading this again, I realize that the other disciples were there as well). And Jesus asked Peter:

"Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"

Now why didn’t Jesus just ask, “Do you love me?” Why did Jesus add “more than these?”

This begs me to question what does “these” mean? I have a feeling that Peter knew exactly what Jesus was talking about. Since the moment, Peter had denied Jesus it must have been going through his mind again and again. The fact that he said he would die for Jesus and then went on to deny Jesus…it was 2 reactions on opposite polar. Peter may have questioned himself – “Can I really go all the way for Jesus? Will I really be able to stand the test of persecutions and challenges? What will we do now that Jesus is no longer with us?”

Maybe, Peter knew exactly that Jesus was referring to the questions he had…just Jesus is referring to the questions that I have – about myself, about the validity of my passion, about my convictions, my ability to stand firm in Him…If I was in Peter’s shoes, I would have answered the same thing too, “Yes, Lord, I love you.” But I may not have said it with much conviction because the questions were still there…the struggles in the heart were still there – wringing about to decide where to stand. All the way or not? Jesus then replied, “Feed my sheep”…then take on the calling I have for your life. Go and be the leader for my people. Get out of this comfort zone and take your place as the leader of the people. Love them as I have loved you…Now that you have learnt to be more understanding, to be more gracious, to understand the pain of being away from me…

Then Jesus asks Peter again, “Do you love me?” – Peter, do you really mean it when you said you love me? Do you understand what you are saying when you say you love me? Do you REALLY love me to take one the responsibilities and calling I have for you?

This time, as I would have, Peter may have taken 2-3 seconds to think before again replying…”Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” (Witnessed by John, “the one whom Jesus loved”)

Meaning it a bit more than the first time, he was starting to believe in himself again…He was starting to open up his heart to Jesus again…Surely, I have not stopped loving Jesus even though I denied him verbally. It was just the situation then…everything was a blur and so confusing. Surely, God’s calling over my life is still the same. Maybe I have not stepped away after all…Did Jesus say that I would turn back and strengthen the others? Yes…I will take care of Jesus’s sheep as Jesus asked him to “Take care of my sheep”. I must do it. I will do it. More determined this time…

Then the third time, Jesus asks again…in front of the others, Peter may have felt a little embarrassed that Jesus didn’t believe his first 2 answers. How deceitful the heart of men…Even when it was probably true that the first 2 answers were out of obligation and “giving the model answer”. This time, Peter answered, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” – Lord, you know that even though I verbally denied you, I really do love you. Lord, you know that though my flesh be weak and I am a little prideful, I do love you…Lord, you know that I didn’t want to…let me be in that situation again and I will NOT deny you this time.

Jesus replied, “Feed my sheep.” Then prove it, Simon Peter. Do what you say..mean it! Don’t just say it! If you really won’t DENY me if you face the same situation again, do it. If you mean it that you didn’t deny me on purpose, then continue on in your walk with me…take up your calling to lead the people and strengthen them as I have said before that you would do. “You must follow me” (verse 22).

Do you love me more than the persecutions you will face…do you love me more than your pride? Do you love me more than the weak moments you have? Do you love me enough to survive this, by my grace and the Holy Spirit and take on the calling I have over your life? Do you love me enough to follow all that I have taught you? Do you love me enough to not run away again next time you face a “test of faith” from the sifting of Satan. Do you love me enough to forgive the people who have done this to me and to go to them and reach out to them (as Peter would be the disciple who would go and preach to the Jews)? Do you love me above all else in your life that you will be willing to follow me to the ends of the earth like you promised?

The cosmic battle is not just between Jesus and Satan. Anyone associated with Jesus is subject to satanic attack. Nothing makes this clearer than the section where Peter is warned about his coming denials. Jesus' awareness of events continues as he predicts Peter's temporary unfaithfulness. Verses 31-32 are unique to Luke and follow his stress on prayer. Satan has put in a request to sift all the disciples like wheat. Though Peter is discussed individually in verse 32, the use of hymas, the plural "you all," in verse 31 shows that he is only part of the coming battle. "Sifted like wheat" is an idiom that in our culture would parallel "take someone apart" (Amos 9:9 has the image). Perhaps Satan believes that if Peter is shamed, others will be disheartened.

Jesus' prayer has dealt with the threat through a request not that the failure be prevented but that any permanent damage be averted. His request is that Peter's faith may not fail. Here is our advocate stepping to our defense through a ministry of prayer. Peter will make no total renunciation of Jesus. The disciple's failure of nerve will not come because of a failure of heart, nor will it be permanent. There will be restoration. In fact, Peter will turn from his denial. His call then will be to strengthen his fellow disciples. What he will be able to teach them may well be revealed by his response. Having learned that failure is possible and the flesh is weak, Peter will be able to strengthen the saints. Though failure is regrettable, sometimes our best lessons come in reflection on failure.

Peter is sure that he is ready to serve in prison, even to die, for Jesus. He is perceptive in that he understands that Jesus' suffering will envelop his followers. Yet he is confident that he can face whatever comes. Though such self-assurance might seem commendable, one's own strength is not sufficient to resist severe temptation (1 Cor 10:12-13). Peter is brave in the privacy of a quiet meal, and when the soldiers show up, he will initially take up arms to defend Jesus. But what will he do when those hostile to Jesus ask him where his allegiance lies? Jesus' prediction of a triple denial before the rooster crows shows that he knows Peter better than Peter does. When we try to stand up to pressure in our own strength, we may wilt. Self-confidence when we are not relying on Jesus is deceptive.

Peter will be able to strengthen fellow believers after his fall because he will understand how easy it is to fall. He can call on them to embrace God's mercy, be prepared to suffer and be ready to give a defense because he will have experienced all of these opportunities himself--some with failure and others with success.

Jesus teaches God's grace in this warning to Peter: Do not trust in your own strength, but realize that after failure there will be opportunity for restoration. Jesus intercedes for his own even when he knows they will fail him. Intercession evidences the Savior's love (1 Jn 2:2). Even disciples who fail in a moment of weakness can experience the success of God's work. The lesson is an important one not only for Peter but also for all the disciples he represents. Though Satan will come after all of them, Jesus will be praying for them all.

Contentment

Paul, denied of every comfort, wrote the above words in his dungeon.

A story is told of a king who went into his garden one morning, and found everything withered and dying. He asked the oak that stood near the gate what the trouble was. He found it was sick of life and determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine. The pine was all out of heart because it could not bear grapes, like the vine. The vine was going to throw its life away because it could not stand erect and have as fine fruit as the peach tree. The geranium was fretting because it was not tall and fragrant like the lilac; and so on all through the garden.

Coming to a heart's-ease, he found its bright face lifted as cheery as ever. "Well, heart's-ease, I'm glad, amidst all this discouragement, to find one brave little flower. You do not seem to be the least disheartened." "No, I am not of much account, but I thought that if you wanted an oak, or a pine, or a peach tree, or a lilac, you would have planted one; but as I knew you wanted a heart's-ease, I am determined to be the best little heart's-ease that I can."

"Others may do a greater work,
But you have your part to do;
And no one in all God's heritage
Can do it so well as you."

They who are God's without reserve, are in every state content; for they will only what He wills, and desire to do for Him whatever He desires them to do; they strip themselves of everything, and in this nakedness find all things restored an hundredfold.

This simple story is both profound and truthful in shedding light on the simple secret of contentment - Don't compare yourself with the people around you but just be the best that you can be - the person that God has created you to be...Each have skills and abilities that are not alike anyone else.

Be happy with who you are and what you have, and you will find contentment has settled in your heart.

Little Point of Interest:
Who knew? There are many beautiful Roman remains in Tunisia. During the times of Christ, Tunisia was apparently Rome's most valuable overseas territory. This amphitheater located in El Djem is a more beautiful & complete than the Colosseum in Rome. It could accommodate 30,000 people! Tunisia's on my must-visit-someday list.

A New Year...A New You

The beauty of a New Year is the opportunity to start ANEW, AFRESH...Ok, so we did not achieve all our goals last year. If you did, you're a truly focused person and hats off to you. For most of the common folk, it's the opportunity to look at how we did it wrong, or perhaps right last year and look forward to a better year ahead.

(Half my cupboard has already been cleared out. Out with the old and in with the New)....A result of all the shopping in Hong Kong and during the Aussie SALES season. Whoopeeeee!

But not so great for my bank account though...(Reminder to self: Another goal to set in 2008: Better BUDGETTING!)

This whole anew business brought to my mind a verse in the New Testament of the Bible..."the old has gone, the new has come" and I decided to look it up:

2 Corinthians 5

Our Heavenly Dwelling

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

When I thought of new beginnings and starting anew, I thought of this passage. So, i looked it up in BibleGateway.com and see if it will speak to me in any way and whether there are important life principles I can learn from it...

Fear God
Firstly, the greatest challenge is this theme of "Fear of the Lord"...I have been reading this book by John Bevere which is titled (yes, you guessed it) "The Fear of The Lord" and there were insights that have caused me to rethink and reshuffle a little my standpoint and basis of my relationship with God. If you have not read it, a good goal to set for 2008 is to read this great book by a man who lives to please God.

Ok, firstly, the fear of God is not to be afraid of God or His wrath although it can be quite frightening to know that God IS capable of anything far beyond our imagination but He doesn't exercise His power because He wants to frighten us into believing but so that we can be convinced of His love for us.

It's actually about love. But...it also says "In Perfect love there is no fear..." (1 John 4:18). "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love". "MADE PERFECT IN LOVE" - The key is trust. It's like a child who ABSOLUTELY trusts in the father. In that blanket of security and love, the child has no fear, because she trusts that Daddy will always be there and daddy will always come to her rescue and that daddy is ever trustworthy...His love doesn't change like the wind but remains the same day after day...even when she has made a mistake and has been "naughty", she knows that her dad will still accept her in his arms.

But sometimes, the insecure little child inside becomes afraid when she thinks her daddy will not love her anymore or will "not want her"...Have you ever felt like that? I have. Many occasions...when i was a little child. And each time, i remember being very afraid. But the truth is far from my 'fearful' little heart. Dad was always there to tell me he still loves me, but what i did was wrong. Second, third, fourth chances were always there. Forgiveness always available.

So trust in His love, not ours and be NOT afraid.

Please God, Not Men
Too often, we lean on pleasing men rather than pleasing God and problems arise due to expectations and differences because men in our sinfulness, make mistakes but God doesn't. So, when we aim to please God instead of men, we decrease the element of errors and mistakes because there is only MY sinfulness to contend with and not the 101 people who i am referring to for my decisions and purposes...

Pursue His Purpose for me Passionately
I believe we've all been placed on this earth for a purpose and a specific role. And it is our life-long goal to continuous seek after that purpose to our utmost ability and practically plan our lives and steer our directions towards these purposes so that at the end of the road we can look back at our lives with no regrets and with a great sense of achievement. Impact the world you are in - the people you love, the strangers who need a kind word, the community you are in

Draw Near to the God who loves me for who I am
There is no place more beautiful and more peaceful than in His presence.

And see also the heaven, and earth, and all that is in them - on every side they tell me to love thee, and they do not cease to tell this to all men, "so that they are without excuse."

Medinas in Tunisia

Something that I only discovered recently...St Augustine received his law education in Carthage, Tunisia and would one day start a church and devote his time to theology in Tunisia and around North Africa. One of the most read theologian after Paul...He is one of the early theologians who has shaped and formed much of early Christian thought...He was a totally logical person. Yet his logic did not work against him but helped him to draw closer into the meaning of God's Word and to love it (as we read above). The statement he made above sure doesn't sound logical. His logic and career in law led him away from Christianity for a while but he would return and passionately devote his life to faithfully make known the mystery of God's love and Jesus' grace to the world through his writings...You know, there are seasons and times in life that God may allow us to walk into so that we can re-discover how much we love him and need him. St Augustine discovered that and for many of us, we are in the midst of seeing that even for our own life. I certainly am.

Actually, PASSION is not emotional...in fact, having passion for something means we must be willing to go the distance to see it come to pass even when things around us get difficult. So difficult that we feel that we can't go on. Even then, God's love is upon us and his grace is sufficient for us...to have joy in the worst situation and still shine for Jesus. Look at Paul when he was thrown into prison. He praised God and remained joyful...so much so that it annoyed the guards. But one of them saw his heart... That Paul's joy was not a facade...it was the real deal. This guard gave his life to the Lord and brought his whole family to know Jesus.

Do you have a passion about something today??? Then don't shy away from its fulfilment even in the face of difficulties and though situations. God is not slow in answering us but he is patiently allowing us to go through the sharpening stone...to sharpen our character and strenghten out feeble hearts. Take heart! Jesus has done everything and overcome the world...what is impossible for Him?? NOTHING!
